Where Tradition Meets Home Decor

High Point was founded where the Fayetteville-Salem plank road (yes, a road made of actual planks and logs!) met the North Carolina Railroad. Thanks to both modes of transportation, High Point quickly became a major center for textile and furniture manufacturing. The city was officially incorporated in 1859, and by the end of the century High Point was a leading furniture manufacturing hub in the American South. By the end of World War II, an estimated 60% of all furniture made in America was produced within a 150-mile radius of High Point.

In 1905, the first NC furniture exposition was held to help retailers pick which products they wanted to sell. Over the years this grew to become High Point Market, the world’s largest home furnishings trade show.
